Riverfront Island Master Plan Input Sought

Riverfront Master Plan

The City is excited to partner with Halvorson Tighe & Bond in an update to the Riverfront Island Master Plan, which includes the canals, the riverfront trail, and Simard-Payne and Veterans Parks.  There are five focus areas for the Master Plan: Connections between the Riverwalk and the Downtown (Lisbon Street), Redevelopment of Island Point, Urban Infill and Market Study, Simard-Payne Park Revitalization, and the Canal System Revitalization.  It is anticipated that the update will be completed in late winter or spring of 2023.

The City is launching a website for the project where updates will be posted, upcoming meetings listed, and public input gathered.  An initial survey is available to take now, with questions likely to change this fall as the work progresses.  There is also a map where specific comments can be tagged to a part of the study area.

To sign up for updates on the project and to take the survey, visit: - Paper surveys are available at the City Clerk’s Office and the Library.
