Homeowner Emergency Loan Program

Purpose

The program's purpose is to provide immediate assistance for emergency repairs to low-moderate income homeowners whose properties are located in the City of Lewiston.

Eligible Activity

  • Life safety issues as determined by the city's electrical, building, fire, and plumbing inspectors and the water and sewer department

Applicant Eligibility

Applicant’s income must be at 115% or below the median family income (MFI). Applicants with an income of 50% or below the median income may qualify for a deferred loan.

Interest Rate & Funding Information

  • Interest rate / term:
    • Household income @ or below 50% MFI for family size qualifies for a deferred loan at 0% up to 10 years;
    • Household income @51%-80% of MFI for family size qualifies for a 1% interest loan up to 10 years
    • Household income @ 81%-115% of MFI for family size qualifies for a 2% interest loan up to 10 years
  • Matching funds: None required
  • Maximum loan: $7,500
