The City of Lewiston established the Business Streetscape Enhancement Program (BSEP) to improve and beautify the resident and visitor experience of downtown Lewiston. This program supports and encourages improvements to streetscapes and exteriors of commercial and mixed-use properties in the Choice Neighborhood in downtown Lewiston (census tracts 201, 203, 204).
BSEP offers grant funds to improve the appearance and structural integrity of commercial storefronts, replacing deteriorated or poor-quality commercial signs and awnings, and by adding vibrant social elements to the streetscape that offer a safer and more pleasant pedestrian and customer experience in our growing Choice Neighborhood area.
BSEP funds are comprised of two concurring grants awarded to the City of Lewiston by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development – the Community Development Block Grant and Choice Neighborhood Initiative. Please reference the Census Tract List below to see if your business address is located within the Choice Neighborhood and the Program Guidelines for details on eligible storefront improvements.
Grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis solely dependent on funding availability. As grant monies are expended, some requests may not be fully funded.
